Arya and Aashu are siblings. They wanted to buy a pet dog. They told it to their grandfather. Their grandfather took them to a pet shop.
There they saw dogs, cats and rabbits. They liked them. They also saw some cages. There were small parakeets in small cages. There were white and grey pigeons in a big cage. They could not fly. Arya and Aashu bacame sad to see the birds in cages. Aashu began to cry.
Grandfather said to the shopkeeper, Why don't you let these birds free.
I have caught them to sell, how can I let them free? said the shopkeeper.
Grandfather decided to teach him a lesson. He said, Ok, I want to buy them all. The shopkeeper went inside the storeroom to bring the birds. But as soon as the shopkeeper entered the storeroom, grandfather locked the door from outside. The shopkeeper started shouting to open the door. Soon, he started feeling dizzy due to suffocation in the room.
Finally, grandfather opened the door.
The shopkeeper came out and started shouting at grandfather. He smiled and said, You can't stay in a closed room for a few minutes and you keep these innocent birds in cages for lifetime. The shopkeeper realised his mistake and set all the birds free. He promised not to keep any animal in cages.

I Must Feed My Mother

A king wants a splendid elephant for himself. Then, why does he let it go back to the forest as soon as he finds one. Let's read and find out!  Long, long ago,  in a forest, lived an elephant. He was big and strong and his skin was as white as milk. The white elephant loved his mother more than anything else in the world. More than himself, more than the sweet wild berries and fruits on the trees in the the forest, more than the juicy tubers hidden in the ground. The white elephants mother was blind. He would take good care of her. He found a nice, cool cave for her. In front of the cave, was a lake full of clear, shining water and lotuses. Water always makes an elephant's heart glad. The white elephant would fast feed his mother, only then would he eat. Whenever he could, he would tell her stories and tell her how the forest looked in the hot summer and during the monsoon when it poured. He would speak to her of the hills, of squirrels, birds and butterflies with b...

The Story Of Aakash

Mohammad Arbaz Arya was a very big name for a very little boy. I remember him as Arya which was what everybody called him. He lived in a small village near the foot of a mountain. His home was a mud but with a thatched roof. He had helped his family built it. Arya wore a cotton dhoti and a simple vest. He herded and milked his father's cows and collected firewood. He was a playful boy who loved to climb trees and play in the expansive green fields. He relished the hot gruel his mother cooked for him on a simmering coal fire. One day, Arya's father sent him on an errand. He was to go to the next village to bring some medicines from the doctor for his sick granny and get back as soon as he could. Remember, Arya,'' his father said, you must return home right after the job is done, no dilly-dallying! There is a solar eclipse today and you must not be outside under any circumstances. Go fast. Arya interrupted his father with a child's curiosity, Why is it dangerous, f...

WHY THE BAT FLIES AT NIGHT

Who is not afraid of a bat? Almost none of us would like the idea of spending even a minute in a cave with a bat. But do read this interesting folktale in order to realize a few things about this flying mammal. Honey, the king of Cloud Land, celebrated his precious daughter Raki's marriage by calling for a Great Meeting. Honey asked Bat to go to invite Sun and he asked Dove to invite Moon. Dove flew as fast as she could to convey the message and Moon arrived on time. Bat, however, was mischievous and playful. He was distracted by many things on the way. He got talking to Eagle, then decided to have a little snooze before going to Sun and, as usual, oberslept. So when Sun failed to arrive, Honey got suspicious and requested Dove to investigate. Go and find out what has happened, the king ordered Dove. When approached, Sun said he had not been invited at all. So Dove apologised over and over again and requested him to attend the Great Meeting. In the meantime, king Honey ha...
